I’m Patrick Kenney and I’m a systems manager at IDG’s International Publishing Services group in Boston. I spend most of my time on development and maintenance of our Lotus Domino-based applications. These include Web content management systems, Web sites and applications, and back office systems.
Why I’m here In addition to the solid reputation of the company, I was attracted by IPS' extensive use of Domino for mission critical systems. As a Domino professional, I seek out companies that know how to leverage Notes/Domino and its many features.
On the job IPS maintains several IDG Web sites, and I help manage and develop a number of those, notably IDGNS.com and IDG Central (internal sites), and IDG.com and PCWorldEnEspanol.com, which are public sites. This means I get exposure in the fields of Web analytics, ad serving and search engine optimization, which are very important to all of IDG's online businesses. IPS' various departments (the IDG News Service, International Licensing, and others), share a common need to work with all IDG business units in every country and line of business. I enjoy working with such a diverse group of internal customers on such an interesting variety of issues.
Career growth IDG business units are always looking for new people to help them take advantage of new opportunities. I think there are a lot of possibilities for people with sharp technical and online marketing skills.
What sets us apart IDG is a privately owned company with a proven track record in the technology information business. It has evolved and adapted from the early days of the computer age, through the PC revolution, and into the Internet age. I think IDG will continue to be a leader in this field.
